Allpay pictureallpay.net employs in 175 people in Hereford, West Midlands and is one of the UK's fastest growing companies. The company is the UK's only dedicated payment solution specialist, providing revenue collection systems and consolidating payments for hundreds of public and private sector organisations.

With over 5,000,000 allpay.net swipe cards in use across the UK, the company handles over 30 million transactions a year, providing bill payment solutions for over 750 public sector organisations with 1,700 payment schemes in operation. Whether paying rent, council tax or any other bill their technology allows people to pay their bills over the Internet, over the telephone, by Direct Debit or over the counter.

To keep up with rapid growth, increasing demands of customers and advances in technology staff constantly have to be kept up to speed. Pam Wooden, HR Manager, explains; “Following a major upgrade of IT systems it was critical for the company to ensure maximum use of the upgrade, to ensure business growth, this meant looking at all employees existing skills and finding training appropriate where necessary. Hereford College of Arts helped us by designing higher level courses delivered to the companies’ timescale. Seven allpay.net employees furthered their design skills using Adobe illustrator”. She continues; “A further opportunity was repeated in August when more of our employees attended Adobe training, developed specifically to their needs. This was again a successful and cost effective method of up skilling the work force. With some employees then enrolling on to short courses to extend specific skills such as web site design, and encouraging self development to aid their future progression prospects.”

“‘I found the course very useful and extremely stimulating and I would highly recommend it to other people .... it’s really helped me in my job and with my personal development’

James Powis Digital Marketing Executive

Wendy Sadler of Hereford College of Arts said; “We have really enjoyed working with allpay.net and delivering this focused training. Our experienced tutors have been able to teach on Mac and PC computers, offering a range of IT training days using industry standard software and packages including the Adobe suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign) as well as other programmes such as Quark Express, Final Cut Pro and CAD based programmes. The tutors are available to go out to businesses or deliver off site training if that would be more advantageous. This is seen as a positive step towards creating responsive training as historically art colleges have found it difficult to bridge the gap between the education and the vocational training they can offer. The development of these courses is seen as an opportunity to meet local demands more effectively and to work in partnership with employers to up skill employees aiding economic growth and business progression”.
