What type of student studies engineering?
Steve Hatt is a student who graduated from WCT and is now combining studies at Coventry with a job a project engineer at Mettis Aerospace.
Steve says: I started college in Worcester around 6 years ago at the start of a manufacturing advanced modern apprenticeship with Mettis Aerospace. I completed a PEO in 2003 and a BTEC in 2004. I completed the HNC in manufacturing engineering in 2006 and an NVQ 4 in 2007. The courses I have studied at Worcester College of Technology, especially the PEO and HNC are the best courses I have attended due to the education, support and the many friends I have made, both staff and students. Thanks to Worcester College of Technology and Mettis Aerospace I was awarded EEF Midlands Apprentice of the Year 2007.
I am continuing my education at Coventry University studying part-time with a mix of mechanical and manufacturing engineering modules to achieve a BSc. My current position is a project engineer at Mettis Aerospace. The range of projects I currently manage vary from developing and instigating a forging repeatability programme to the supply chain development with partners worldwide, in particular China.
Nick Blakeney, Chief Operations Officer at Mettis Aerospace comments, “Steve is a valued member of the team at Mettis and we are extremely proud of his achievements at Worcester College. We wish him every success in his future studies.”
