What is a Framework for Faith Group?
Framework for Faith is designed for groups of up to about a dozen people under the guidance of a Group Leader. However, currently we are developing an on-line version of Framework for Faith; please check the Hereford Diocesan website (www.hereford.anglican.org) for the latest information.

Resources
Each unit has its own Workbook and Resource Box, written by an experienced person with a good knowledge of their subject. It is accompanied by a resource box containing additional material and a wide range of books to suit all tastes. The resource box is continually being revised and updated with books, videos, etc.

Most Framework units are divided into eight sessions. Each session is designed to take approximately two hours, including a break for refreshments. Groups generally meet in people’s homes, either once a week or fortnight.

How Much Does it Cost?
Framework for Faith is not expensive. The registration cost is £10.00 per person which covers the cost of the initial materials, etc. and helps to keep the resource boxes up to date.

Subsequent units are free provided the information can be passed electronically and duplicated locally. Otherwise we make a small charge to cover the cost of duplication and delivery.

What qualifications will I achieve if I complete the units?
An additional feature of Framework For Faith is the option to work towards the Marches Certificate in Christian Studies; the Bishop's Certificate. The certificate will be awarded to group members who have completed any six main units and have submitted a project/assignment inspired by each unit.

The project can take a variety of forms. Examples are: compiling a scrap book, producing taped interviews on a chosen topic, writing a book review as well as the more traditional essay; planning a time of worship. Your Group Leader or the Lay Training Officer will help with the selection and preparation of a suitable project; the more imaginative the study the better.

Certificates are awarded by the Bishop of Hereford. It is possible to extend the Marches Certificate to a Certificate of Higher Education Level 4 called Education and Christian Discipleship which is recognised nationally. The University of Worcester accredit the course; course members become part time students of the University, with access to all their facilities.

COULD YOU LEAD A GROUP. There is always a need for new group facilitators. the important gift is to be able to encourage others in group study. There are extensive Leaders’ Notes with each Unit giving background information and helpful suggestions to help you encourage your group in their exploration of the topic. Often group leadership can be a shared activity and the Training Team are always available for additional support as appropriate.

Volunteers Needed
Do you wish to be part of the small group of people willing to trial the developing on-line version of Framework for Faith? This will require a commitment to help develop the course and provide regular feedback over the next six months. It is likely this will take an hour or two each week.

If you are willing to help please contact Revd Peter Massey via email.
